Okay, so after a couple of threads and thoughts I have finally decided on the monitor I would like to get with me build this year. It's the ASUS PA249Q. The reason I chose this 10bit monitor is because of the fact that I am SUPER fussy about colour accuracy and this particular ASUS monitor seems as though it'll meet my fussy colour accuracy needs.

Do any of the 49,248 members on these forums own one of these monitors, if so, how do you find it?

If you can take advantage of the 10-bit color panel (having a card that supports 10-bit color), got the hardware to push the extra pixels over 1080P and the money to spend the PA249Q is one of the best monitors in it's price range/of the 1440P panels in general :)

Do not have it myself, but you won't be disappointed if you can bring out it's true potential.

This. Very much this. Unless you have a FirePro, or Quadro (I believe they're the only 10bit cards) it's rather useless to go for the 10bit panel. Also you won't notice any difference when playing games, or I imagine even general use.

The Firepro and Quadro cards from AMD and Nvidia respectively… The consumer cards does unfortunately not (like the 770 you are planning) :(

Personally I would buy a cheaper monitor (like it's PB cousin? )and put the money towards something like a 780/880 (assuming that you are planning to build the rig in your sig) instead.

I own the older PA248Q which uses a lower end panel. I find it more than sufficient for my use.

Hmm...maybe I don't need such a high-end monitor, although I have heard people complain about the PA248Qs' backlight bleed be somewhat bad, you don't find it bad at all? Maybe I should look into the PB248Q.

I don't believe I need such a high end monitor but it can be rather difficult to choose between them all. Plus I don't want to spend a heap on a Quadro or Firepro GPU. Thanks guys, this is really helpful. :D

I don't find any back light bleed on my monitor. Its very uniform.

I guess it's the luck of the draw then.

I think you're thinking of the PA279Q. I'm talking about the PA249Q with the 1200P resolution. :)

Well to start of with I don't want a Dell monitor, if you ask why, go an look at my various threads and posts you will see why. So Dell is completely 100% out of the picture. All other suggestions welcome.

I do a bit of lite photo editing however my primary use is video editing, I do a heck of a lot of that and I love it.

No worries! I'm wanting to switch back to 16:10 because I believe it's the best res for a computer monitor and I want the extra 120 pixels of resolution.

exactly its not something the average person is really going to notice a difference on though. ive had a few friends over in recent days to try out nvidia surround cause its nothing but a dream for them and seeing some of their faces and reactions is just awesome. i wish i had a camera at the time

I do, I do. I quite like its. Its finally a true sucessor to the PA246Q and looks great in portrait next to a PA279Q.

The PB248Q did get better reviews than the PA248Q, the PB as far as I know wasnt released in North America. Also having both the PA248Q and PA249Q you can tell a difference between them even without 10bit, you really have to decide if the difference is worth the money to you.
