how to comment in html (because it doesnt work)

im trying to comment on the first few lines after where it has the <style> #jstext </style> 

you can see me trying with the <!-- the --> and it not working

As confusing as it is, comment tags don't work in <style> or <script> tags, because the code in them isn't HTML at that point. It's CSS and JavaScript code respectively.
