Im not really sure on how to overlock but i managed to get my original kit from 2400-2800 (using the msi easy overclock tool) so do you think i could go from 2666-3000 easily?

Yeah just get the 2666 kit and save a few bucks

I want to get corsair vengeance 2x8gb ram but should i get 2666mhz or 3000mhz? It's only AUD$30 more than the other. And could i overclock the 3000mhz one to 3200+

If you're pretty comfortable overclocking ram get the 2666 pack and OC

If you want to save some time, grab the 3000 kit

2666-3000 is a fairly less noticable than from like 2133 to 2666 on Ryzen- so take that into consideration

Where are you looking at buying from? Prices? On Amazon.com.au there's 2x8GB 3000MHz C15 Corsair Vengeance for A$128. Looks like it's an international listing but you get free delivery if you have Prime. Otherwise it's about A$160 from sites like PCCG.

Edit: Just checked and the Amazon listing does include GST.

If you are using ryzen you need faster rams, wit intel you gain nothing with faster rams but in ryzen there is a clear difference between performance.

Look at this video:

There are a lot of examples like that in the net just google it for more benchmarks.

You can overclock RAM quite a bit!

Not only the clock but also the timings.

I have a 3466 kit with 16-18-38 and got it to CL15-15-36. That improved the performance a bit, but maybe I'll try for better clock and see if it's still stable.

So you can go for the 3000MHz and try to overclock it to 3200, it is possible but not on all sticks. Kind of like a CPU in my experience.

My Gaming PC:
Inno3D iChill Black - RTX 4080 - +500 Memory, undervolted Core, 2xCorsair QX120 (push) + 2xInno3D 120mm (pull)
AMD Ryzen 7 7800X3D - NZXT x72
G.SKILL Trident Z @6000MHz CL30 - 2x16GB
Asus Strix X670E-E Gaming

1x500GB Samsung 960 Pro (Windows 11 + 10)

1x2TB Kingston KC3000 (Games)

1x1TB WD Blue SN550 (Programs)

1x1TB Samsung 870 EVO (Programs)
Corsair RM-850X + native 12VHPWR-Cable

I'd suggest you to look at this video, this video give you a good idea how to proceed to overclock your RAM to a hardcore level, then you could lower it down until you get stability and you are comfortable living with voltage and stability https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QF3FsHRuvKM&t=783s

Main System: Ryzen 2700, Asus Crosshair VII Hero, EVGA GTX 1080ti SC, 970 EVO Plus NVMe, Crucial Ballistix 3200mhz CL14, CM H500, CM ML240L cpu cooler.

Second System: Ryzen 2400G, Gigabyte B450 DS3H, RX 580 Nitro+, Kingston A400 SSD, Team T-Force 3200mhz CL15

If it ain't overclocked it ain't good...
