Xigmatek asgard pro review

Jumper118

i pick one of these up cheap for my amd rig which i'm now using for folding. its surprisingly good quality for the money.

gallery_16915_854_1217851.jpg

you can mount 7 fans in this case, 1 in the front, 1 in the bottom, 2 on the side panel, 2 in the roof and 1 in the rear

gallery_16915_854_1602625.jpg

the case does have a removable dust filter over the psu area but not over the bottom fan mount which is fine on a budget case and i'm not going to use that mount anyway

gallery_16915_854_468754.jpg

the front is a fine mesh with a foam dust filter on the inside of the mesh which you can't remove, but it is easy enough to clean anyway

gallery_16915_854_1778746.jpg

you can mount 2 140 or 2 120mm fans in the roof

gallery_16915_854_500371.jpg

the optical bays and hdd bays are tool less

gallery_16915_854_634830.jpg

as you can see the front i/o cables are coloured which is a shame because i dont think it would have cost them any more to make them black

gallery_16915_854_460610.jpg

this is where the front fan sits between the front mesh panel and the front of the main chassis, there is a cut out for the cables to go through.

gallery_16915_854_1486603.jpg

the case comes with 2 120mm fans one mounted in the front and one in the back

gallery_16915_854_23184.jpg

this is the rear of the case with the pointless grommets for external rads

gallery_16915_854_1312632.jpg

the back of the motherboard tray has a large cpu cut out so you can mount pretty much  any aftermarket cooler with the board in the case. there are no u channels or grommets around the cable routing holes but considering this is a budget case that is ok.

gallery_16915_854_247603.jpg

there are multiple fan mounting options in the front, however you can only have 1 120 or 1 140mm fan in at once due to the holes overlapping. modding the case to fit 2 120mm should be simple and it just a case of drilling 2 extra holes

top 120mm fan position which i am currently using

gallery_16915_854_456403.jpg

this is the bottom fan mounting position with i will use when i am mounting a second 120mm fan above it

gallery_16915_854_467818.jpg

this is the 140 top position

gallery_16915_854_1595296.jpg

and the bottom position. note that the mesh isn't quite wide enough to get the maximum performance out of the 140mm fan. i would just have to drill a few more holes at either side to make this configuration work better

gallery_16915_854_479643.jpg

this is one of the main cost saving areas with snap out pci cover although there is one cover that comes with the box of case screws

gallery_16915_854_876862.jpg

gallery_16915_854_203269.jpg

there is not an amazing amount of cable management space so you have to be smart when routing the bigger cables like the 24 pin, so that you can get the side panel on.

gallery_16915_854_74263.jpg

this lip at the end of the motherboard tray is very narrow and so you can only pass flat or very thin cables through this space

gallery_16915_854_1453586.jpg

there is plenty of room for long gpu's  as long as you dont put hdds in the top bays

here are some pic of the amd rig in it

in conclusion this case is great for people making a budget rig that need a lot of airflow. it is good for mining and folding rigs with solid build quality.

it doesn't have as many features as more expensive cases, but still functions well and looks ok

the heatsink in there is massive and it does fit, but i must say that the top of the fan is touching the side panel

the stock fans move a good amount of air and aren't too loud at all.

i have now put the gtx 670 in there as well as the gt610 and the temps are still ok with the stock fans, so i'm going to leave it till summer to get some extra fans in the case.

The cables aren't black :-(

i know, but the good thing is that i can't see them because it doesn't have a window and it is also my folding rig so it does matter so much.
