Has anyone on this forum been partnered on Youtube with a partner such as machinima etc.? And if so, do you know if it is possible to have copyrighted material on your channel (when you're partnered) but not monetize it? And also, are you allowed to ask your partner to help you get music to use for your channel that isn't copyrighted?

Thanks,

Blueprint

If your patterned with a network such as machinima or the other ones I think ign and such then you can use most games and the music within the games such as grand theft auto on the radio won't give you copy right flags you'll have to ask your partner for full details

Monetizing videos is optional, but something most partners want to do (for obvious reasons). If there's something copyrighted you don't want to monetize then you just don't have to monetize it, easy as that.

As ixiboneheadixi said different partner networks have different rules and rights. I think Machinima is the only network you can monetize Halo videos under, for example.

It's generally best to avoid any copyright problems though, since if one's bad enough to get a strike then that can be very bad for you and some networks might kick you out immediately or not accept you later down the line. Strikes are not the same as Copyright ID's, ID's are really just a nuisance but prevent you from monetizing.

Oh, right, I was on a Call of Duty forum, so I should know plenty!

Monetizing is a bad idea, at least that I remember. It's much easier to get a strike and you don't have a network to help you with legal troubles.

Look up Yeousch. It's a mostly small community and it supports smaller guys, the requirement for partnership is something like 1,000 subscribers and 10,000 views, or something along those lines. They don't even follow those requirements anyway, they'll partner you if they like you.

if you have to insist you think for yourself, i'm not going to believe you.
