What do we know so far about the Upcoming Ryzen 3/5/7/9 3XXX?

Go to solution Solved by minibois,

This will get you up to the news:

Long story short: similar amount of cores as Ryzen 2000, other than there will be a 12 core Ryzen 9 and there are more rumors about the 16 cores..

15% extra IPC over Ryzen 2000 (amount of 'stuff' it can do per Ghz), while it also has some higher clock speeds.

Release in July I believe, although some chips were going to arrive a bit later.

I need a rewamp about what we actually know everything so far for the upcoming Ryzen 3XXX. Bcs im in need to buy new Computer CPU. ( actually using a FX8320 )´.

That's my understanding as well.

I would guess the Ryzen 9, 7, and 5 will launch first, followed by Ryzen 3 and maybe some Athlons further down the road.

With Ryzen 1000 they released the high end chips first, I kind of thought they would do that with this launch too (so people who would buy a Ryzen 5 will get a Ryzen 7, because "well it is out the first"), but I would love to be proven wrong by them released everything thing (at least Ryzen 9, 7 and 5) at once.

Yes.

Asus apparently has said all their boards are going to support Ryzen 3000, but MSI has apparently been a bit more careful about saying yes or no.

This is info I heard from Linus I think.. But Science Studio has a video of him at Computex asking vendors this question. To be honest I have not watched it, so it may not contain your answer.. But maybe it does :P

I was going anyway to get a B450 Pro 4 from AsRock. And I saw somewhere a official List of them puting in for the next gen update for there bios. I just wanted to get confirmed by that.

If you want to know for sure if it will be supported on that board, keep an eye out on their QVL for CPU's: https://www.asrock.com/mb/AMD/B450 Pro4/index.asp#CPU

Once Ryzen 3000 hits stores, they will likely update it. Hopefully a bit earlier. But keep in mind you probably have to do a BIOS update before it will work, which you can only do a BIOS update wit ha compatible CPU installed..

Yeah there the turbble begins, i eitgher have the CPU do update neither the Mobo to update.

can I just buy the 3000 CPU with a B450 Mobo and go into Bios and do this that way? I really dont see a reason to buy the 2nd first and then switch only for the update to a 3rd gen.

Unfortunately you can only update the BIOS when you can get into the BIOS, which you can only do using a compatible CPU.

The fixes to this usually are:

- Get a newer chipset board (a "B550" motherboard, or X570, the former has not been announced of course)

- Go to a service place like a store and have them update it

- Get a B450 motherboard with Ryzen 3000 support, the manufacturers typically get access to the chips and thus new BIOS versions before the consumer does, so they might be shipping compatible BIOS versions on boards already. In the past they put stickers on the box like "Ryzen 2000 ready!!"

- In the past AMD has had an RMA kind of thing exactly for this, where they sent you a simple low power, low cost CPU to update the BIOS which you can return later.
