1080p 144hz or 1440p with 75hz? Rx 590

Which one for the Rx 590?

I play a wide variety of games some very graphically intense others not which one is best? I know this gpu can do max settings at 1080p but is it worth knocking down the settings a bit for the extra pixels of 1440p?

Depends on the size I would think. 1080p looks terrible above 23" so I would avoid the 1080p monitor if it's bigger than that.

RX 590 is a lower-mid tier card, so I'd go w/1080p, especially since 144Hz will make a big difference in enjoyment and your future cards won't have to be more powerful for the higher resolution.  I have a 1440p at 144Hz and it requires usually at least $400+ graphics cards to really be worth it for Ultra gaming.  My g/f and I just purchased a 1080p at 144Hz monitor for my old gamin computer I gave her as a hand me down and it's far less demanding, so she can feel it immediately from 1080p at 60Hz.

Adding to the above, what is your CPU? Considering you might want to go 144hz..
