Lenovo Legion Y520 Display Screen Upgrade

I want to upgrade display screen of Legion Y520 to an excellent color gamut and 120Hz display panel. But I have listened that it affects motherboard and causes motherboard failure.

On which circumstances a display compatability with motherboard rely? If its chipset then Omen 15 and MSI GS series laptop have same chipset HM175 as Legion y520 and they do come with 120Hz panel.

Linus in a video 8 months ago did this with a predator helios 300.

Now kindly suggest me should I install a 120Hz panel in y520 or go for a 60Hz one. Will a 4k panel also affect motherboard?

If you really want to upgrade high refresh rate panel in Y520, you cannot control the brightness (always 100%)
