I recently copied the steam files for call of duty Waw to my new laptop and each time I launch the game I get "Steam Error Application Load Error 5:0000065434" what should I do now?

Try verifying files in steam.

Install Steam on your new laptop.

Install the game on your new laptop through Steam.

Launch game from Steam.

Don't bother with copying files and whatnot, that just about never works.

Yeah forgot to mention unless you pointed the steam install on your new laptop to the folder it probably won't recognise that the game is installed.

Just reinstall it normally.

wtf, terrible advice. Copying games on steam works pretty much 100% of the time, the trick is that : 1. You install steam normally on the new device, 2. You create a library folder. 3. You copy the game folder over. 4. You click "install on the game", and it verifies the files, and then you can play the game.

You have to understand that not all people have gigabit, and for example i wouldn't reinstall my 700gb of  games on 1mb/s internet just because i reinstalled windows. I would just stop playing games at that point.

But to  @athleticotaku72 : Try vertifiying the files through steam, if that doesn't work, then reinstall...

I only see your reply if you @ me.

I've had mixed results with steam properly detecting the files if I've just copy and pasted the folder from ...steam/steamapps/common from one PC to another.

It usually works but not always.

What always works for me, but can be a little time consuming for large groups of games, is to use the backup and restore options on the games individually.

If you still have access to the original steam install and have a portable HDD or network share setup, try doing a backup of the game in steam and then restore the game to steam on your new laptop.

For you maybe. For me it has never failed. There's procedure, just like with Origin where it works too. But still it works. It may need "downloading" where Steam verify's files. Or verifying them afterwards. But it has never failed.

It can keep the old root it was installed on, which likely won't be exactly on the dot the same.  Doin a file back-up, then pullin it from the back-up is great, since it'll not include the internet for installation and can be done through USB 3.0, which's usually faster than most people's internet.

Back the files up to somethin detachable, like a Thumb Drive or External Hard Drive, safely remove it, then plug it into your laptop.  From there, open Steam, then hit <Steam> Top-Right and <Back Up and Restore>.  Find the file where you saved it, then wait for it to complete.  It works amazin for me, but it doesn't bring over the saved data in my experience.  If you have a Cloud Save and it's allowable w/the title, then you'll be covered there.

From what I'm seein on the website, it doesn't support Cloud Saves, since it's so old; if you're just tryin to play Multiplayer, then you're good-to-go.
