105c on cpu!!!

So basically my friend is having a case of the 105°c on cpu temps, he's rockin an i5 650 with intel stock cooler and some reliable thermal paste. He's on 50-60 on idle just like me so any fixes. The cooler is on correctly and he be using MSI afterburner to tracc this stuff. Any viable fixes or anything?

1 is the cooler clean?

2 it is thermal throttling? because sometimes the temperature sensor can just be with some error, so it shows a wrong temperature

The pc was just recently built lol and the sensor issue might not cus it gets way way hotter than the graphics card to the touch

105Cº is past TJunction and the system would automatically shut off, are you sure your software used to read temps is accurate?

Try checking to see if the thermalpaste was applied properly, sometime it will not cover the heatspreader the way it should, else you either need a bigger cooler, or a new CPU or MOBO.

Try using a software called coretemp .It gives you data from all the thermal sensors available and is way more accurate than msi afterburner which is a GPU overclocking and monitoring software and is not really meant to monitor cpu.

I personally recommend HWInfo. But yeah, 105C is well beyond TJMax for any CPU on the market, and especially well past the 72.6 of your friends processor.

 

Your software is probably borked, your friend picked a very old platform to build a new system on and the software he is using to monitor it probably doesn't know how to read temps for Clarkdale CPU's. (Much as the issue Ryzen had at launch, but because it was too new.)
