i was wondering about the following question

Does the warranty on a gpu expires when you perform custom actions such replacing items to fit a custom cooling plate or taking the whole thing apart to refresh cooling paste for example?

no, warranty only void if you damage or physically modify the card

E: At least in the US, may not be the same everywhere

Well i'm not sure if you are informed correctly .. i just found this q&a between asus and a concerned customer

Just got the official reply, and it sucks :S

Dear customer,

it's definitely a warranty void if you remove the stock cooler.
----------

Hi,

So if I understand this correctly, if I were to for example install a water block to cool
my GPU, I would be voiding the warranty?
I'm asking because there's a lot of confusing info out there on the net, some claim,
that it doesn't void the warranty, but that Asus requested if the GPU was sent to them
for repair, it must be done with the stock/original cooler and not the water block.

Which makes sense, but to void the warranty just by removing the cooler seems a bit
harsh...
So it's definitely a warranty void if I remove the stock cooler?

Thanks
----------------------
Dear customer,

this procedure would void the waranty.

Best regards

[Problem Description]
I don't have a problem, I'm just wondering, if I remove the stock cooler and reapply
the thermal compound on my GPU, since it started to run kinda hot, if I void the
wararnty doing this?
I'm asking, because there is a sticker/seal on one of the screws on the backside of
my graphics card.
Basically, it would be the same situation if I would try to install a GPU water block...
I'm just wondering if this procedure would void the waranty?

So Sony and Microsoft are forced to encourage and support tinkering by 3d party distributors on their own device. Did they charge such enormous prices i wonder then.
Still a gpu is on a whole other level. It is an intricate device ... you don't go solder your own connections on a motherboard either with consent right?

anyway that is a standpoint to consider

Not necessarily encourage, but they have to allow it. If the end user doesn't damage the device, it is still serviceable by the company.

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

How many watts do I need?

It depends. EVGA will honor warranties of modified cards as long as you have the original parts when you RMA it and they determine the cause of failure was not you.

As I said earlier, if you damage or modify the card itself (pcb and attached components) you'll void your warranty. But disassembly, cleaning, or swapping the cooler are all fine and dandy

I've checked both asus and msi booklets.... The only real danger for losing warranty seems to be using the card in a way it is not ment to be used, i'm reading mining here. Both companies offer a suggestion that installation and/or modifications should be done by a licensed company
