CPU Cooler shows DDR3 SDRAM, can i not use this on a ddr4 mobo?

Go to solution Solved by -rascal-,

Looks like they (Amazon?) really dropped the ball on the product description / details there...

Here is the info on the *OFFICIAL* Cryorig website: http://www.cryorig.com/m9.php

Heh, it's like saying you can't wear red shoes when driving a truck.

So I've put together a parts list and the only thing I'm really concerned about right now is the CPU Cooler. It shows "DDR3 SDRAM" on it, does this mean I won't be able to use it with a ddr4 motherboard/ram?

What site are you building this list on? What is the cooler and CPU in question?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

It's off pcpartpicker.. cooler is in the post, and the cpu is i3-8100.

It says there's no issues but it says at the bottom
"Some physical dimension restrictions cannot (yet) be automatically checked, such as cpu cooler / RAM clearance with modules using tall heat spreaders."

And with it saying DDR3 SDRAM on the cpu cooler's page i was wondering if it could just not be showing because of something like that.

with only a 8100, id just use the stock cooler, those chips don't make much heat and will be almost silent on a stock cooler

The standard height of DDR4 DIMMs is 31mm whereas DDR3 is only 30mm, so in theory it is possible for a cooler to fit with DDR3 and not DDR4. But the difference is so tiny it's extremely unlikely to be an issue in practice. Heatsinks extending above the PCB is a much bigger issue, but that's easily solved by just not getting memory with those tall heatsinks (they're completely pointless anyway).
