Is an RTX 2060 a worthy upgrade from a GTX 980?

.Mac

I'm building a new computer and have ordered everything but the graphics card. I currently have a GTX 980 and I budgeted out about $500-550 for a new GPU, but from what I've seen the RTX 2070 isn't really impressing me a whole lot compared to the 2060. Should I just go for the 2060 for $380 or is it worth the $500 for the 2070? I would keep my 980 until I see what Navi brings but unfortunately I don't think it will fit in my new case after I install the AIO. I'd probably be keeping this GPU for at least 3-4 years.

what games and resolution/fps/settings? I still think the 980 is pretty good for 1080/60

1080p 144hz. As I said I would keep my 980 for the time being but it won't fit in my new case (I'm downsizing so my computer is easier to bring back and forth between college and home).

If you'd like to upgrade GPU now, you have to consider the Vega 64. It performs 10% better than the 2060 for around the same price.

Yes I agree.  But honestly a 980 to a 2060 or Vega is sort of a side grade.  If you had a 960 then fine but you have that generations fastest GPU.  I wouldn't do the side grade my friend.  You want to do a upgrade grab a 590 or a 2070.

I have, but unfortunately I don't know if there are any available that would fit in the NZXT H200 with a 240mm AIO. I think the clearance for the GPU is about 270-275mm and two slots. Also don't know how hot it would run in a small case.

i would say go for a vega 64 since its better than a 2060 performence wise and relatively cheap aswell.its also more future proof with it being 8gb rather than 6gb(rtx 2060).

its on sale, and it even comes with 2 free games!

if you are downsizing then the 2060 is the right card for 1080/144, would not do it otherwise, def wouldn't put a vega in a small case.
