GTX 1080 ideal temps?

First time PC builder here.
I recently finished my PC build and installed software (Corsair iCUE) that allows me to see the temps, fan speeds, etc of all my hardware. After playing Skyrim for a few hours, i noticed that one of my graphics cards (GTX 1080) gets up to 150 F, while the second graphics card remains in the high 80's or low 90's. I have them connected with an ASUS ROG SLI bridge that came with my new motherboard.

So my question is, is it normal for one card to run hotter than the other? And is 150 F an acceptable temperature for playing a game as old as Skyrim?

Perfectly fine. 150f is 65c. Nvidia GPUs are good up to 84c. Once they reach 84c they will thermal throttle to maintain temps.

Isn't nvidia's default to throttle at 93c?

no, 84c. It may have been 93 at one point, but I know with at least Pascal its 84c.

Alright, thanks! Still learning the basics and wasn't sure cuz 150f sounds hot. Glad to see i built this thing right and it's running ok

This isn't technically correct, Nvidia cards start to throttle at 52C by reducing the boost clock, then every 5C it reduces the boost clock further. At 84C the card will be under the reference clock speed for that specific GPU.

Yea, you wont ever see PC temps reported in F, so I would switch it to C and get use to learning those numbers in termps of PC temps on components.

84c is the hard cut. You're fine up until then. Yes it does step down with GPU Boost until then.

Why quote me saying basically the exact thing I've just said...

 

84C is not a 'hard cut' it simply just continues to cut down frequency to stay under 84.
