Memory upgrade

I'm having a bit of trouble with getting new ram for my computer as I'm not sure if it will fail my system

The current ram I have is a Lenovo 8GB 2400 Mhz with  an i-7 7700 and a GTX 1050ti 4GB

planning to get a 16GB 2400 Mhz ram

u should often go for the same ram from the same company to avoid running into compatibility issues

In theory there won't be any problems using any modules. 

But just to be sure, match the speed rating and chip brand (not the module brand).

There's a marking on top of the chip which stated the chip manufacturer.

The most popular are Micron, Hynix, Samsung, Elpida etc.

How many slots do you have, if you have 2 slots, then you just add 1 more 8gb to have 16gb.

So it will be ok if I take out the old one and put in the two new ram sticks

My current ram is a Ramaxel stick will it be ok if I switch it out for a corsair ram

I wouldn't switch it out. Just get another 8g stick.

Ramaxel is the module brand, not the chip manufacturer.

Probably the chip is covered with a heatsink, so you cannot see the chip.

90% you can pair with any other stick with no problem.

 

This is an example of Ramaxel branded module with Elpida chip.
