First Build Critiques

I am planning on building my first build after a few years of watching Linus and the pc crowd. I have done a lot of research and would like to hear all ya'lls opinion on my choices. My goal was to build that was VR ready, and capable of light to medium photo/video editing and airflow is a heavy priority. If there's anywhere you believe I can save money or suggest an upgrade all comments would be appreciated! Also, I can't find a good case with front USB-c support.

Here is my current build...

You'll be better served with Intel, I'd say try out 16GB first and only add another kit for a total of 32GB later if you feel you truly need it.

Run Windows 10 unregistered for a while, no need to pay such an expensive price tag for what you can use for free.

@Sailboy42 your hard drives are pretty expensive for HDD's the WD blacks are, from my understanding, usually used by video editors. Since you have two of them i'm assuming you want to raid 0 them. Instead I would suggest using a Seagate Firecuda drive instead. I've tried raid 0 with HD's and it still feels really slow compared to solid state drives. The firecuda is a hybrid drive with an 8gb sdd for exceleration. It really helps if you're using it for gaming after the first load. I'm using one in my PS4 pro and i'm really happy with it. Also the Firecuda is cheaper.

One thing to keep in mind is stock case fans are usually loud, so you might want to budget for adding some nice magnetic levitation fans (bonus they are quiet). Also with ryzen you should try to get ram around 3000 mhz speed.

The 32gbs I believed is good for multitasking with multiple items open such as Photoshop, Lightroom, with music in the background. I also usually leave lots of chrome tabs open.

What in the case makes you say that it doesn't have great airflow. With such an open front I believed it should be fine. Compared to cases like corsair obsidian where there are just small vents that, I believed this was on the better end.

Its slightly cheaper, and the Tomahawk is one of the better boards at that price point. Good VRMs and power delivery so overclocking shouldn't be an issue.

Also a slight personal preference as I sometimes find ASUS BIOS to be a bit of a faff.

VR Demands you to push at least 90fps at all times and have more stable minimums.

That is easier to achieve with an Intel processor, now need is a strong word, take it more as a preferable scenario.

You want good VRMs (they help deliver power to the CPU) so you can achieve a better overclock on the CPU. I don’t know what that guys is talking about though, because Gigabyte and Asus have been heavily critiqued on their B450 VRMs. MSI has been well reviewed by hardware unboxed.

The WD blacks are “fast” for an HDD. Hard drive suffer when loading lots of  different small files because it takes time for the reader to move to the different part of the disk. That is where the fire CUDA comes in handy, since those small files will be cached in the SSD after the first load. If you can get the 7200rpm version of the firecuda.

Computex starts at the end of next month. I would expect them to be announced then. But they might not be available for a little while after that. If you go with the Ryzen 2600x you should be able to upgrade to the Ryzen 3000 when it comes out if you decide to later. A lot of people are saying intel is better, but that is only really true for gaming. Although, there is really only a difference in the high end. The difference between a 2600 with fast ram and an i5 is marginal. However, the 2600 will be better at some of the editing stuff you want to do (unless you want to use adobe premiere quick sync which uses the integrated gpu in intel chips to speed up rendering).
