Hey guys so recently I needed to add more ethernet ports to my router since it only supports ONE cable which is pretty bullshit if you ask me, but hey it's a free one from the cable company so who am I to complain.

Anyways, I bought a splitter, which actually didn't work and after some research I found out that splitter won't actually work for a router, and instead a switch will.

Now here's my question to the awesome geniuses in this community:

Will my router support a switch? Or do I need to buy a new router?

Here are pics of my router

(Model name is Cisco DPC2320)

What you have is a modem, you need a dedicated router to connect to it. If you just plug a switch to it then the first device to ask for an IP address will get one and the rest will get no connectivity. What's your budget and location? Who is your ISP?

Keep in mind that's a DOCSIS 2.0 modem which I'm surprised your ISP still allows on their network.

My budget converted to dollars would be around 20$ max. I am from the Philippines so we pretty much suck when it comes to the internet, my ISP provider would be Sky Cable ?

Hmm thank you for that suggestion, but my internet speed at the moment would, only be around 10mbps fiber and my house isn't really that big, so the model's signal can actually reach every nook and cranny of my house ?

Does this router seem too much? Can I use a cheaper model if that's the case, maybe under 10$ if I can... ?

Interesting, so it's got wireless inside of the box, so it might actually be an all in one but I've just never seen one with a single Ethernet port and cable input port since that's usually what a standalone modem looks like. Looked up the specs and it is an all in one so a standard switch is fine, sorry about that :)

I would get a 5-port gigabit switch if you can find one and they shouldn't be much, if any, more than a 100Mbps switch.
