Question: Memory upgrade for AMD Ryzen

Question: Does CAS latency impact Ryzen performance/memory compatibility? I found a list of AMD compatible memory modules and found that for G.Skill memory at least the recommended modules have a CAS latency of 14. Would it make a noticeable difference in performance to use memory with a CAS latency of 16? Will Ryzen Gen 3 also benefit from faster RAM? I'd like to go for 3000 or 3200 MHz. Additionally, I have an 8GB dual channel kit in my rig and when I do upgrade should I remove it? It runs at 2666 MHz.

I built my first computer last summer and my budget only allowed for 8GB of RAM. Payed almost $95 for it. And now I am looking to upgrade to 16GB or 32GB for my CAD (SOLIDWORKS and Fusion360) work. I am running a 2400G and I just want the most out of my system and I know Ryzen is/was/can be picky about memory.

First time posting on the LTT Forum, let me know if I left out anything important

 tighter memory timings. Especially tRFC.

For a newbie, can you please explain "tighter memory" and tRFC?
