I'm currently using a USB wireless card attached to a little USB extender that connects to my main PC. It's starting to fail so I bought a PCIe wireless card to replace it.

It works fine, but I need to move the antenna from the back to the PC, to the top, for better signal reception.

I'm looking for the black device in this pic

https://www.amazon.com/ASUS-802-11AC-Wireless-AC3100-Adapter-PCE-AC88/dp/B01H9QMOMY

(as I already have the card)

or this

https://www.aliexpress.com/item/DIY-WiFunni-PC-wireless-wifi-adapter-Dual-Band-Antennas-RP-SMA-external-6Dbi-2-4-5Ghz/32515637558.html

(I don't want to buy from AE, the pic is just what I"m looking for)

but for the life of me I don't know what it's called, so looking about on eBay gives me too many non-relevant results (I was calling it a wireless extender base station)

Wi-Fi antenna? For PC.

Thought about that too, I get plenty of the hard plastic screw-in ones may just have to slog through that keyword search...

Well I spotted this:

https://www.bearifi.com/products/heavy-duty-7-dbi-antenna-with-11-ft-rp-sma-extension-cable-and-magnetic-base?variant=1056760360&utm_campaign=gs-2018-11-01&utm_source=google&utm_medium=smart_campaign

Kind of expensive though, don't know if the thread will fit your NIC, and I get the feeling the cable might be too long for the NIC's output power.

Damn, I didn't even think about the length of the cable having an effect...good catch!

That still puts the antenna out the back of my PC, I need it on top of my PC for a better signal...
