Hi, I have looked but can't seem to find this but barebones.  I'm looking for a mini PC that I can put an i7 8700 into

I already own all the components

And the house g4 looks great.  I would like to have Thunderbolt 3

And this case seems to be the only option I've got.... Hmm

Any ideas?

Make sure the compatibility is in check, and you're good to go. 8700 is a 65W chip I think (sb correct me if I'm wrong), and a select few low profile air coolers should be able to cool it.

Usually though, these per-built PCs use some custom components and that's how they "screw" you over. LTT showcased this https://www.amazon.co.uk/s?k=asrock+deskmini&crid=OCJX8OKZJOV8&sprefix=AsRock+Des%2Caps%2C215&tag=linustechtips-21&ref=nb_sb_ss_i_1_10

So you might have luck with it. It's an expensive case. And I don't know about the compatibility.

The 400 G4 can only use the 8700T, which is a lower power chip. The fact that even the 8700T can stay cool in that tiny chassis amazes me, tbh.

It also looks like what I consider a reasonable config will run you 1000 dollars, and they do not offer a barebones. You may be able to find some stripped on eBay, or a cheap low end config you can strip yourself... but that's it. Here is what I spec'd, should you care:

The hp g4 mini takes an i7 8700 and many other processors.  Too bad they make you buy a bunch of components.  I wish these companies would just sell without memory, hard drive, os, and processor.  The g4 looks great.  I did a build with an inwin Chopin itx and it is a great little build.  I would like to get something smaller for travel.

I am not a gamer.  Just making music
