Cant control fan rpm...

FeTix

This is my fan hub https://i.imgur.com/JFrqGWx.jpg if i unplugged the h100i pump cable from cpu_fan and plugged it into the white header (4 pin) on the fan hub and then plugged both of the fans from the radiator and the case fans into the fan hub and then had that cable at the top left plugged into either cpu_fan or cpu_opt should the fans all change speed depending on the cpu temp?

Specs:

Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5
Corsair SP120 RGB

NZXT Noctis 450 Fan hub

So just keep the pump by itself in cpu_fan then the hub into cpu_opt then one of the h100i fans into the 4 pin header so it can know a speed then al the other fans just into all of the 3 pins slots

Ive recently upgraded to SP120 RGB fans for my h100i cooler and plugged them into the splitter coming from the H100i (i did notice that the stock h100i fans are 4 pin and my new ones are 3 pin but i heard elsewhere it doesnt matter they will still change speed) but ive tried changing the speed of them via icue how i could before i changed fans and they dont change speed... Anyone have any idea?

Use DC mode instead of PWM mode in the motherboard's BIOS for fan control on the port used to power the splitter

Try plugging them into your motherboard's fan headers. It should be able to control them via voltage that way.

you still use a fan header on the board for the H100i right?

The pump is going into CPU_FAN and there is another cable coming off the H100i for the two fans

Current setup: ive got the fan hub pwm cable to sys_fan1 but i cant control any of the fans (I only have my case fans connected to it and none in the white 4 pin header) but for some reason i cant change the speed of them (it says theyre at 0 rpm),

if i plugged the fan hub pwm cable into cpu_opt and put one of the fans into the white 4 pin header will it recognize it and ill be able to actually use a fan curve on them instead of them all being at 100%?

That would be the problem. In order to control the speeds, data needs to be sent from the hub to the mobo, vice versa. Molex is strictly power. You would need to use USB in order to adjust the speeds.

Ive got a pwm cable running from the fan hub to sys_fan1 on the mobo. The fan hub ive got converts a PWM signal to voltage regulation. Would it be because i havent got a fan/pump plugged into the main 4 pin white header? As it says that you need to plug your cpu cooler into the white 4 pin...

The possible to being the problem . I would attempt that and see what happens.

The splitter coming off of the H100i uses pwm. If you try to connect 2-3pin fans to it, it'll result in 100% rpm since they don't have the built-in pwm ic to modulate the incoming 12v signal. If you want to use 3pin fans, connect them to the nzxt fan hub or another fan header on the motherboard.

The fan signal for the case fan hub comes from a fan header on the motherboard through the pwm cable at the top left of the hub.

You need a 4pin pwm fan plugged into the white fan header. It's where the rpm is read and the motherboard fan header won't otherwise detect the fan hub.

What are you referring to?

There's no adapting 4 pins to 3 pins. One pin would just be missing.
