Windows 10 PRO Activation issue

Recently my brother took HDD out from my PC and now windows activation is gone. Tried to troubleshoot also tried the key that i was using (bought from ebay tho) Saying cant activate because key was used on other hardware, But its the same HDD same Windows (Didn't format) just took it out and plunged it back in. Am guessing have to buy new key...

Windows OEM licenses locks in to the motherboard it is first installed on. You need to buy a new key if you transfer it to another system.

If you want transfer right, then you need to buy the more expenisve Retail license.

 

If you put the HDD back to the original motherboard, your current license will now work

Yeh its in the same MOBO, Basically it was disconnected and connected back again (Same system). Thats all. I guess its a glitch or maybe limit is reached but i didn't change any hardware.

if you have any old win 7 keys lying around that aren't being used, just fyi little known fact, they will actually work to activate windows 10.

windows 10 pretty much just needs /a key/. anything from Win 7 or 8 (or 10) will work.

 

I think win 7 professional -> will work for win 10 pro

 

win 7 home/standard/ -> win 10 home

I'm going to guess the ebay key was made with a keygen and someone bought a copy with the same key, called MS, proved they bought it and they deactivated your machine. I bought a few keys from ebay. 2 were good, one was already in use and the other was a volume key. Buy cheap key, take a chance.
