Hi guys I've been wanting to upgrade my 8 year old computer for sometime now and decided I wanted to make my own pc. I've been watching linus for awhile now and decided to join the forums to get some input on my plan.

Parts I'm planning to use (going for amd as I want to keep it under $1000 nzd, $832 usd)
-Cpu: FX 8320
-Mobo: Gigabyte GA-970A-D3p

-Ram: 2 x 4gb G.Skill DDR3

-HDD: 1TB Seagate Barracuda

-Gpu: Sapphire R9 270x btf4 OC
-Cpu Cooler: Hyper 212 evo
-Case: Idk yet
-PSU: FPS 750w 80 Plus Silver, Aurum Modular

So the most important part I wanted to know was would this be capable of handling light 3d work and video editing and also if the hyper 212 would be capable of cooling the cpu so I could overclock.

My Little Gaming Rig:

CPU: FX 8320 | MOBO: Gigabyte 970A-D3P | RAM: G.Skill Ares 2x4GB | GPU: Sapphire Dual-X R9 270X | Storage: Seagate SSHD 1TB | Case: Corsair 200R | PSU: CM 550W V-Series

Upgrades to come: CPU FAN: Corsair H100i | RAM: 2 more 4GB sticks | GPU: Another R9 270X running in crossfire | Storage: Samsung 120GB SSD | PSU: Corsair 800w

I'd go for a 8320, with a Noctua cooler ( or 212 evo if you're on budget ) and overclock.

O I was meant to write 8320 (Typo)

I can do the 212 evo since it's only $20 more.

Intel CPU needed.

I can get the intel i5 4670k for $100 more, but only if you sway me :)

Well here things that should sway you http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/288?vs=88 compare any products and be enlightened.

You can sway your computer around in the air when it doesn't preform how you want it too xx

And the 4670k easily the most affordable yet high preforming product on the hardware market at the moment. Price to performance ratio is absolutely insane.

The comparison wasn't bad between the two, and for $100 cheaper I think the amd is better bang for buc since it's very easy to overclock.

The 4670k isn't? Sure go for the AMD. Its not like I'm an intel fanboy, its just the statistics I follow. Since benchmarks are important if you're talking performance and as a fellow budget builder. Reliability is a must! Not sure if you're familiar with the AMD bulldozer? Thats enough to put anyone off AMD for life.

I didn't mention no piledriver for a reason. The bulldozer was a disgrace to tech nation.

Which was AMD's mistake.

Also isn't the PSU overkill? Maybe downgrade a little? I like the CM Corsair series

I was trying to find a psu that was around $150 and the FPS was the only one I could find. The corsair 600-650w is around 220.

people like assuming that you are from wherever they are.

Which was AMD's mistake.

and the piledriver fixed that mistake, intel made the mistake of the pentium 4 (first gen) being overhyped.

I'm a guy who likes spending his money wisely and therefore I cannot suggest the 4670 for $100 more than the 8320. Here in South Africa the price difference is about the same and I'd stick to amd if I built a rig right now because of that.

And again i'll say I'm british.

Pentium 4 still had a better output than the bulldozer in that time. It was an awful make from a brand that obviously care about release charge. Not quality reassurance.

I'm glad you're going AMD, so when one day AMD release something good. People like you can explain to me what its good for and how they've changed.

Fixed a mistake that was released. It was released, thats the whole point here. If AMD want a chance of having a market as big as Intel. They might want to stop lying. Or maybe re-create their company with a new name. Its already branded for false advertisement.

you're fanboying a bit too much, anyway about your signature, it's incorrect. when many people suffer from a delusion it's called civilization / politics.

Like I said before, seeing as you have an inability to read i'll repeat this too. I don't fanboy. I read statistics, I don't LOVE intel. But I hate AMD. For reasons shown. Just check benchmarks for pointers.

I don't have to check benchmarks for pointers, I already know the real world performance difference, there was actually a topic a while ago talking about benchmark crazy kids. anyhow the reason shown says bulldozer sucks much in the same way pentium 4 sucked. Everyone messes up some of the time. I don't mind you being a hater / fanboy / whatever. I just wanted to make it clear to others that you're not comparing them too well, especially since the charts from anand look like a big difference but if you look at the math the difference is barely there.

you helped me open others eyes, that's all I wanted.

Edit: it's funny how you say that I have an inability to read because I call you a fanboy. It's not about being able to read it's about being able to interpret and conclude for yourself, what you said in previous posts contradicted with you saying you're not a fanboy by ignoring the P4's failure etc. Intel was just better at deceiving others.
