So i am very temped to save some money buying a 1950x over the newer 2950x. I figure that money can go towards a better mobo or more ram...my application is multithreaded productivity ( vray, c4d ).

are there many issues in the 1950x that have been resolved in the 2950x, or is it just a slight improvement in performance???

I suppose i could wait, but you reckon there will be much improvement?

it's a new node, so it could theoretically mean double the cores

but it should be upgradeable with current x399 mobos, but those are just rumors

The Zen 2 can soon be compared to the 9900k which it will defeat IMO with its 7nm process and using turbo and what not.  TR used to be bad and horrible single core performance, but AMD fixed that with the Zen 2 TR.  It will have a clock of 4.7Ghz but yet be as fast if not faster then the 5Ghz 9900k.  Im personally waiting for the AMD 32 core 64 thread CPU which is gonna be 1700 or so.  Where as Intels chip is 18 cores yest costs over 2200 bucks.  I think Ive had it with Intel,, so Im waiting for the thread ripper and will buy it if the single core performance is same as 9900k .... wishful thinking.
