is AdobeRGB necessary for video and photo editing?

Hello everyone, I just had a quick question. So, I've been looking at laptops and all in ones for video editing and potentially some photo editing and I was wondering if AdobeRGB is necessary for photo editing and what is AdobeRGB?

You mean for the screen/display?

Adobe RGB is just a bigger color covering than sRGB:

So you have a greater range of colors to work with, most displays still use sRGB cover as far as I am concerned, is Adobe RGB is it needed? nope... is it good? I suppose

No.

AdobeRGB is a print standard.

If you send your images out to have them printed on a large format printer the colors on the screen will be closer the colors you get on the print at 100% AdobeRGB.

If your images are ripped for printing they will be converted to 4 color(CMYK) images. AdobeRGB 100% screens can more accurately portray colored shifts between RGB and CMYK.

So a better "what you see is what you get".
