Would the RTX 2060 give me a bottleneck?

I'm looking to replace my now dead gtx 960(rip) and I was looking at the rtx 2060. However, I'm still using a core i7 4790k. Would this cause a bottleneck? Should I get a 1660ti instead?

nope, 1440p won't increase the demand on the CPU. Is your performance target 1080p 60fps?

you should still get a better gpu when ever you can, then you should consider cpu upgrade

You should be fine @ 1440p but it really will depend on the games your wanting to play.

yeah for now. I was hoping to get a 1440p monitor this next month. I'm needing to get a gpu replacement right now because mine died.

If you are looking to get closer to 144hz range getting a used rtx 2070 would be a good option it will last a bit longer with the increase vram and 20% or so performance increase which can be pushed even further than that. I have a EVGA RTX 2070 XC Gaming with EK block and I can maintain 2100Mhz at 60c with a memory increase of 900Mhz. Which puts me right up in line if not a bit higher than a 1080ti.  I got my card with the block and backplate on ebay for $460 which was a steal.

I totally agree with that statement.  If you want triple digits FPS then forget about the 2060 and grab a 2070 or 2080.

I recommend snatching a 2070 at minimum for 1440p gaming with all AA methods turned on or maxed out.  The 2060 is a 1080p card, and AA methods will reduce the jaggies but at the same time it will bring your rig down to its knees.

That's awesome. I would love to get a RTX 2070, but I ruled that out even used. My wife and I already agreed on a budget of 350$ which is why I was looking into the RTX 2060. However, getting a cheaper card would obviously make her happier about the whole thing which is why I am now looking into the 1660ti.

Well damn. I have a 60hz monitor atm. I suppose I should hold off on the 1440p monitor until I build a new rig.

If you keep your eye out on ebay you could probably get close to $400 on a used card just have to watch like a hawk and jump on it. The good thing about most 2070's is the ability in the future to watercool if you wanted to. Which would give you even better head room.

Imo, even current "best "rtx arent capable for 1440p / 144hz in long run and not worth the money.

I just saw a listing on my local Facebook marketplace guy got a gigabyte rtx 2080 for $500 that is a great price, just keep your eyes open and don't get to hasty
