Nvidia's roadmap says 2014, while most rumours point to a Q1/Q2 release. Probably will be like a Fermi -> Kepler evolution though. I don't expect Nvidia will pull a 8800GT with Maxwell. Only slight improvements, better power consumption with 20nm, and hopefully better compute performance up to snuff with GCN.

So we should expect almost twice better improvement?

Not at all.

1. GFlops measures floating point operations per second which is more representative of compute than gaming performance.

2. This chart is performance per watt.

People tend to forget that with improved architectures come lower power consumption, which is why an Nvidia GTX 470 can outperform a GTX 660. The prior being a 275 Watt card. Much less effective yes, but a better card in raw performance none the less.

You wouldn't believe how many people make pointless "upgrades" based on pure marketing bullshit.

I even know a guy who went from a GTX 570 to a 660Ti, which is a DOWNGRADE!

In case the moderators do not ban me as requested, this is a notice that I have left and am not coming back.

it's not a downgrade. The 660Ti performs on par with the 670 and 760 on resolutions up to 1080p.

I had a GTX 560 Ti and it was barely holding on, my 660 Ti is a powerhouse, I don't need anything stronger than this thing for the time being.

Fanboy much ?

haha not at all I just plan to buy one because of the timing. The AMD prices are really high for now because of mining and with the release of their new r9 290(x) we shouldnt expect to see any more cards for maybe another year. I just thought since my gtx670 does more than the job for gaming I will save that card instead of going for an r9 290 and just wait for the 800 series because it will be released quicker than the new gen of AMD cards and could very well be more powerfull. I have nothing against AMD. I at one point had an r9 290 windforce but returned it due to the fact that it was recalled. I just rethought what I was going to buy and came to a conclusion that I was going to buy an h100i with nf-f12s and another SSD instead with money to spare for games.

Also if you have read alot of my previous posts and know what I am about, that thought of me being a fanboy wouldnt have even occured to you.

I dont have a spare 670. I had to send back the r9 290 and I bought other components that were really neccessary. Also If you were joking maybe you should have made it more obvious because you cant show sarcasm through text with any indicators.

All of his examples are bullshit, a 660 is mostly on par with the 580, not weaker than a 470.

You're either trolling or reluctantly stupid. I'm not saying the 560 Ti is bad though, turn down the AA and it still runs most games awesomely, however most of them are only 1 GB chips instead of 2/3 which is a major bottleneck added and even with a 2 gig chip they'd still fall behind by far vs the 660 Ti.

GTX 660 Ti vs the 570: (again in most games aside from Crysis, the 660 Ti wins)

I meant, if it shrunk down, won't it run hotter? If you look at CPU's, Ivy Bridge was shrunk from 32nm to 22nm and it made it run significantly hotter since the transistors are much closer.

There are 10 types of people in this world, those who understand binary, and those who don't.
