Hi guys,

So I have a bit of an interest in editing but not enough to buy a pro version of an editing software.

Are there any recommendations for a beginner like me. Free editing software would be preferred.

Thanks in advance!

Sorry, Video editing.

So adding music, cropping the video, adding different videos together that sort of editing.

Maybe add in some visual effects as well.

If videos, hitfilm express is ok.

If Photos, try using GIMP.

I would recommend you splurge on some pro software though,  it makes a difference.

Please mark as helpful and informative so my profile looks better.

quote or reply to me if you want me to reply to you.

Thanks

Does it have a watermark after editing? I used one called filmora9 and it was pretty easy to use, but the annoying watermark was splattered across the video after exporting.

I try to import this mp4 video in hitfilm express but it says the media could not be imported.

Edit: It doesn't have audio is this the problem?

You sometimes need a codec which can interface with the file.

But I have never seen this with MP4 before. But there is a lot of useful bits of software on my computer that might have just been able to deal with that file type, such as having QuickTime for .Mov files.

I will do some googling for you

Ok, apparently you need QuickTime.

Download it here: http://www.apple.com/quicktime/

Thanks I will try it. Though I find it strange that an mp4 video with sound could be imported but the one I tried without sound couldn't.

There's also Davinci Resolve. My personal pick over Hitfilm which doesn't scale well.

Thanks I'll also try this one out. Is there a watermark in the free version after exporting video..?

No. I just edited video today with it. Only difference between paid and free is amount of features. Like multiuser things, more formats, better HDR support, better color correcting etc.

Ok, I actually liked filmora9. The UI was easy to get into for a beginner like me but it was the watermark that threw me off.

I'll try Davinci Resolve out and see which one is easier to use compared to Hitfilm.

And don't need all those features, just wanted to try out editing so the free version is all I'll need. Unless I get real into it.
