Ryusavage

My PC is booting to bios and then no signal, my PC randomly crashed when playing metro 2033 and now it's only taking me to the bios screen and then I'm getting no signal

So you have access to the BIOS, just not anything in Windows? Remove the GPU (assuming you have onboard graphics). If that doesn't get anywhere, clear the CMOS as well.

Hmm. Try resetting the CMOS (can usually be found by Googling "clear CMOS [model of your motherboard]", otherwise refer to your mobo manual) and see if it'll boot correctly.

Oh, so you've gotten to the Windows recovery environment (like the image attached below)? Load into safe mode and see if you get video there.

If you have access to another PC or Mac (doesn't need to be decent, just needs to have a USB port and internet access), try creating a bootable Ubuntu drive. This should indicate that either

a) if it boots and everything works fine, then your Windows installation is screwed and you'll probably need to reinstall

or

b) if Ubuntu fails to boot to the live desktop, that there's a hardware failure that's occurred with your PC.

As for how to create a live Ubuntu USB, here are some resources:

https://www.ubuntu.com/download/desktop <---- This is the download page for the Ubuntu .iso. You'll want to download 18.04.2 LTS.

https://tutorials.ubuntu.com/tutorial/tutorial-create-a-usb-stick-on-windows#0 <---- This is the tutorial for creating the bootable drive on Windows.

https://www.balena.io/etcher/ <---- If you use MacOS, you can use Etcher to flash the image that way. Just download the program, run it, select your image and flash drive and the program does the rest.

I mean yeah, based on the picture you posted of the Startup Repair screen I'm assuming Windows killed itself somehow and need to be reinstalled. You could go and try to make an Ubuntu USB first if you want to test it, or your could just go full nuclear and reinstall Windows.

It's possible that something within the boot sector of the drive got corrupted and is preventing the PC from seeing the OS on the drive. It might be a good idea to just reinstall Windows.

I don't think installing a new GPU would cause your SSD to not be seen as bootable, but I guess it's possible. Like I said, you'll probably want to reinstall Windows as that seems like the only option. Just to confirm, you can't get into safe mode, correct? Before you try anything, disconnect all other drives besides the SSD. If you get back into Recovery Options (turn on the PC and hold the power key to shut it off multiple times until the recovery screen shows up), choose Command Prompt and see if it comes up. From there you could try running bootrec.exe as follows.

bootrec /FixMbr

bootrec /FixBoot

Execute each command separately. Type exit once the commands have run.

Sorry. I forgot to mention, you need to use bootrec.exe and not just bootrec. My bad.

Lol, I know that feeling. So did you get the command to work or is it still giving you an error?
