[REVIEW] V-Color Skywalker 3200mhz DDR4 2x8gb RAM

Had 2133mhz. 

Wanted to get a new real feel for Ryzen performance with higher frequency RAM

Review:

 

1.) They aren't lying to you, once you go higher frequency you wont go back.  (2133mhz doesn't want you back, anyways)

2.) Still testing out gains for those interested you can join my wall topic as we test this from 2133 to 3200mhz in games, benchmarks etc

Aesthetics - I couldn't get a picture to come out right to capture the beauty of these chrome'd out bad boys.  Really nice heat sink.  HEAVY ram (heat sink).  3x to 4x heavier than my Patriot DDR4 2x8 kit with HS.  Feels very stout.  Is very mucho el chromo - very aesthetically pleasing.  Didn't cling to fingerprints either.

 

Performance - Stuck them directly into an ASUS B350 Prime Plus mobo with the original manufacturers BIOS - booted right up to 2666mhz, DOHCP later, 3200mhz no issues - join my wall topic to see the gains in gaming and synthetic benches

 

Price - Did my research, they are an Asian company new to US market.  Low price to be competitive, will buy again.  I paid $92 shipped for 2x8gb 3200mhz.

 

CURRENTLY (I just bought mine) you can get 2x8gb for $88 shipped.  Got'dam.

For reference I believe that is hynix mfr, if you'd like to extract a fair bit more performance out of it, I would follow these timings made by TheStilt. Make sure to raise dram voltage to 1.4 and soc voltage to around 1.05, happy overclocking!

100% had planned to update BIOS

 

Honest - 100% noob at overclocking (other than HEY LOOK A SLIDER!!1!)

 

I REALLY do appreciate this.  I am having a timing issue on 1 game atm and hadn't had time to google a fix - this might just be it!  Battlefield 5 will not run at 3200mhz (everything else will) it crashes the game or blue screens the PC.  I have to downclock it to 2666mhz for no issues in BF5

 

What is Ryzen Timing Checker?  Is this something I need outside the BIOS or do I make these adjustments in BIOS (assuming in BIOS, and I can also google)

Ryzen timing checker is just for making sure your settings applied from the BIOS, timing adjustment will be under some kind of advanced memory setting in your BIOS, I'm not the most familiar with asrock's BIOS but it should be easy to find. These speeds and timings should work out for you, but just in case they don't, here is a more conservative, but still tighter than stock timing config.

Tagged you on my wall post to see results from 2133 to 3200 (using DOHCP) with Userbenchmark, Heaven, Firestrike, Timespy, and Cinebench results as well as gaming perception (I don't video record etc) on my FPS increase (right now cant get Battlefield 5 to run at 3200, blue screens the PC or crashes the game nearly instantly at DOHCP settings, maybe the timing tightening will stop this!  Have to do tests on that at 2666mhz currently)
