Image file

Hi, I have a hard drive from an old computer and I would like to know if there is a way of getting the image file so I can run it on a raspberry pi, with all the data, does anyone know what to do?

Well you can't run a normal pc on a pi cause x86 vs arm problem. You can try a emulator, but thats gonna be very slow.

 

You can make a image with something like dd easily.

ok, but the specs are low enough (for the os, it is vista) and it runs on x32.

 

but how can I get an image file from an existing drive?

On linux you can dd if=inputdrive of=outputfile

 

No, your won't emulate a visti pc on a pi, its going to be way to slow, and basically no ram. Don't even try.

what os are you using? you can justt use dd to make a image file of a drive.

You can use disk2vhd from Sysinternals and mount the vhd in a VM on a hyper visor, which could run on your current machine... but not a raspberry pi.
