Should I get a high refresh rate FHD monitor, like an Asus monitor, or should I get a WQHD monitor with a lower refresh rate?

I am building a pc with an rtx 2080. I don't know what monitor to get. Is something like an FHD asus monitor with 240hz refresh rate, 1 ms response time, and g-sync. Or should get something like an acer predator WQHD 144hz, 1 ms, Freesync/G-sync monitor.

(Also, can't the 2080 take advantage of freesync?)

Get the 1440p one. 2080 is too powerful for 1080p.

That's what I though. I gave a $500 budget and I wanted an Asus strix monitor but I just can't find an Asus WQHD monitor.

The 1440p would give you a more balanced option and its probably what most people would get. I would probably choose the 240hz over the 1440p just because I play overwatch 99% of the time.

4k 144hz why make compromises!

Freesync works in theory on the RTX2080 if Displayport is used.

Didn't notice any difficulties with my 27 inch 1080p 144hz MSI Optix G27C

I don't have the budget for a 4k 144hz monitor. Unless you know of one @Ansuex.
