Why does my graphics card waterblock have a metal plate?

Was googling, but can't find an answer. Most fully show the path of liquid, but mine is half covered by a metal plate. Just curious, trying to learn.

That plate covers the water channels since it needs to have clearance over the VRM or modules that is under that specific section.

Depending the card you can get other blocks for it,Like heatkiller their blocks are not designed like that.Some bitspower are like that or the cover plate is in acrylic.And it depends your card what blocks you can use they might look better to you.
