10 Years of Gaming PC's questions/suggestions

brianschoenrock

Has gaming really changed that much in just 10 years?  Considering that the average PC user probably keeps their PC, with only minor upgrades, for at least three years, wouldn't it make more sense for each PC to reflect a three year period?  Then you could showcase much more ground breaking technology such as the original Doom, Quake, or Unreal Tournament.  You could even just do a history of gaming showcase without restricting yourself to a period of time.  Start with Zork, move to Wolfenstein, then Doom, Quake, etc, with a powerful machine for each period.

I'm just saying that it would be a much more interesting display if the changes were more obvious than what has occurred over the last 10 years.

I agree that it would be more interesting to show off more than just 10 years. However, I am excited for the games showcase on each computer, in particular, Portal 2 and Forza Horizon 4. I can't believe Portal 2 is 8 years old or so, that is just crazy!

I don't know, it depends. We haven't come a long way graphically, but the game dynamics have changed, it was like FPS, then maybe RPG/MMORPG, then Casino Royale, like Fortnite, where we got a mixture of the two.

So I used to play CoD, then MC (loved it, and so did you), then like SC2, maybe then like CSGO etc. Just different playstyles were ' in season', but we've been capable of making these games for a long time.

originally I was a little confused because the title here and on the LTX Expo site states "10 Years of Gaming PC" but both places emphasized more on the games rather than the PC hardware, so I thought perhaps the title should have been "10 Years of PC Gaming"...

But if it is more focused on the PC hardware which are representative of each of the last 10 years of hardware advancements and then each PC will feature games which were released or popular at the time, then that would be interesting to see. Perhaps the PCs can be in completely see-through cases so we can see all the parts as they have changed in the last decade, and then we can try the different games representative of each year on them and experience the difference.

I have complete working gaming PCs I've kept and restored I can donate to this display if LMG is looking for donated parts, as I am sure this awesome community all have, just let us know!
