Hi guys, back again for some more info, as you seem to be the most knowledgeable forum on the webs!

So I have an old netbook with an atom n270 (I think). Either way it's a 32-bit chip with legacy bios only. Got 3 OS's on it (2 Linux and windows 10 for if I need it) but I had to use an extended partition for the 3rd. Was doing some research into MBR and GPT.

So my question is, do you reckon I could boot using GPT (I know windows wouldn't boot from it, but I'm getting a decent laptop soon so that doesn't matter to me) on a 32-bit legacy system, I know 32-bit isn't an issue but does GPT require a UEFI system? The only info I can find is for 32-bit UEFI systems so am a bit stuck.

TIA!

It a great little web browsing machine, good enough for what I needed at the time

It isn't a great web browsing machine nowadays. Seriously, it's hell, even on very lightweight browsers and distros.

I've used a Atom N280 for about a week before, during february this year

On Lubuntu, it would hardcrash the system at any more than two tabs because of the CPU, and every webpage loaded like you were on dialup (on a 100mbps connection).

I upgraded it to 1.5gb ram which is the max for this one, but it still doesn't like loads of tabs, think I've had 5 open before in windows, don't know in Linux but I run arch with i3 to save all the ram I can, the resolution is probably the biggest issue

Makes sense then, I had the N280 with 1GB and the RAM was a limiting factor too

Only an extra 60khz over mine, basically the same chip, I was looking into setfsb, but not going to take it back apart to find the clock generator number when I have the Omen coming
