Thanks man.... you the real MVP

no problem

since i think we're done here, you can mark it solved

Hi,

I found the Cooler Master MWE 750 Gold Full modular for about $86 USD last week and made a hasty purchase, as it sounded really good with its 80+ Gold rating and was full modular. However, I didn't look it up prior to my purchase and now I am confused if I should get it replaced with a Corsair RM750x or is it a good purchase.

The reasons I looked up the RM750X in the first place was that it was listed in pretty much on all the Best PSU articles that I looked up and on the other hand, I didn't really find any good reviews of the CM MWE 750 that I bought. I know the CM MWE 750 is relatively new but still.

I currently have:

  • Asus Maximus VIII
  • 6600k @ 4.8ghz
  • Zotac GTX1060 amp 6gigs
  • 2 x Samsumg 500 gig ssds
  • WD 3T Purple
  • Enermax 650 80+ Bronze PSU

I am Planing to upgrade to:

  • Asus Maximus xi Hero
  • 8700k
  • May be GTX 2070

Thanks in advance.

Asus Maximus xi Hero

don't, horribly overpriced

as a person that works on the psu tier list here, i'll tell you that the MWE gold is fine, but the rmx is better

tho 750 watts is overkill

No, MWE GOld is only a good solution when you need something cheap.

If you need 750W, you have the money for a high quality Platinum or TItanium unit.

And with that System 550W is more than enough..

With that you might want to wait a bit until Ryzen 3000 is announced.

That's only a couple of weeks away And your CPU already is pretty good, so no real need/pressure to upgrade yet.

As for the GPU: Might want to wait as well and look for VEGA Deals. Sometimes you can get a V56 for like 250-280€.

They're someone who bought a $250+ motherboard, for a system with a sub $250 CPU, and sub $250 GPU. I don't think their purchasing decisions are pretty rational...

I thought of asking about the Mobo for the 8700k in a separate thread actually as I was still looking up my options and plan to upgrade in a few months.... what do you recommend?

Thank you for replying....  AMD stuff wont be available until later this summer and I kinda need to change my motherboard as it seems to be failing... and instead of just changing the mobo ill upgrade the cpu as well...

Ryzan stuff cost just about as much as Intel over here but doesn't have any resale value, which has to be considered cause part exchange comes in handy when upgrading...

And yes my CPU is indeed really good... have been running it @4.8 ghz on v1.290 ever since I got it and crashed a total of 6 times in a year...  One of reasons of getting a bigger PSU is that i need to add a lot of hard drives in my pc. I am already having issues with the 4 that I have at the moment...

I paid over $1100 for all that and it was my first pc.... wanted to get a 7700k which rare over here and cost almost as much as 8700k...

and may be someone posts stuff here cause they don't know better or don't have the same market as other countries..

Um, AMD is cheaper across the board.......

Also wait for Zen 2. AM4 will have some decent resale value considering the plattform.

Interesting pricing....... So a 2600 is the same as a 8400 and a 8700k is the same as a 2700x?

Still doesnt change the fact your CPU is still good an you should wait for Zen 2. Because an 8700k is a small upgrade compared to a 6600k.

You're telling us that the Athlon 200GE costs the same as the 9900K?

Of course some AMD products will cost the same as Intel ones. What matters is how good the products are compared to each other.

:)

I didn't check prices for these guys but there wasn't much saving if I were to go with a 2700x ....

I may end up just keeping my 6600k as its been more then a golden chip....  but i need to run a whole bunch of VM's for work and I do some video and animation stuff (still learning) so more cores would help.....

Well. We were never going to suggest buying it.

We are recommending to wait for Zen 2. And not buying something current gen.

Which is exactly why we are recommending to wait for Zen 2

I didn't price out all of them.... just the 2700x and 8700k are other CPU's around that power range...
