Hello guys!

So after a lot of research, I will build this pc in April:

case- Fractal Design meshify C

cpu- Ryzen 5 2600

mobo- B450 msi tomahawk

gpu- 1660ti MSI GAMING X

ram- G.Skill Trident Z 16gb 3200mhz

hdd- 1 tb Barracuda

ssd- Kingston UV500 240GB

cpu cooler- Arctic Freezer 33 esports ONE

extra fans- 3x deepcool rf 120mm

psu- Seasonic focus plus 550w gold

This pc will be used for 1080p 144z gaming, playing games like Far Cry, Battlefield, Witcher 3, Tomb Raider etc.

a) Is this a good gaming pc for 1080p? Can it be used for 1440p too or is it a bit too much?

b) Should I change anything for something better?

Thanks!

I'd swap the SSD for an 860 evo, but other than that it looks pretty good.

Yes you'll be able to use this for 1440 gaming

to touch on your build. I have an rx580 and according to linus tech tips review on the 1660ti the 580 is a better value. The 1660ti gets like 20fps more on avg compared to the 580. in 1080p for me to get full benfit of my 144hz I have to run all games at low settings. in apex legends everything is set to low/off and field of view at 103. overwatch fov 103 all low 75% render scale (200+ fps). Rainbow six siege all low. I have tested 1440p on my 4k display like once. Playing  the witcher 3. It acheived 60fps. I dont remember the settings tho. So to answer your question can it do 1080p 144fps or more for your 144hz display. The answer is yes in every game it is achieve able. But your expectations should be poor visual quality to reach that result. So if your a competitive gamer with hopes of reaching overwatch leauge, or a csgo team etc. Then starting with a 580 and a 144hz panel will do you just fine. But if your a casual player looking to have a fun time playing single player games and have all settings on max 1080p or even 1440p look for a better card. 1440p youll be looking at low - medium for maybe 80-100fps. Again take this with a grain of salt. This is from my experience with the 580 and estimating fps values from watching reviews. Just make sure that you understand the graphical impact you will have if you want to run at 144fps plus in every game. Edit, what monitor are you looking at getting? If your going for a 1080p 144hz pannel look at the means of samsung and their quantum dot va pannel. 144hz 1ms response time and a 125% srgb color calibration out of the box. I have one and i love it. Destiny looks amazing.

^^^ from the response above the stuff he is nit picking doesnt really have a performance increase. They maybe higher quality parts and last for longer but again kingston is a well known company. The cooler might have 5-3 degrees diff in overall temps. The case is just subjective

I'm not nitpicking

I'm giving useful suggestions

kingston: say that to the rma rate of the a400...

34 duo costs like 5 dollars more

cases are subjective, but can lower the price if chosen correctly

Kingston is very, very well known for having insanely high RMA rates for low end SSDs. The MX500 is slightly faster, and won't fail.

The 34 can sometimes be picked up for the same price, sometimes a few bucks more, and as you say, is 3-5 degrees lower temps.

I must have not know about the Kingston issue. I have been running a 120gb for like half a year and have had no problems. If I did I'm sure Kingston would take care of it. Anyway a "cheap" anything is bound to have some bad issues. Also for test benches Linus and Jay's 2 cents use Kingston 1tb performance sata ssds.

The cooler is $5 more for better performance and an extra fan. The SSD is also only $5 more for slightly better performance. I wouldn't say it's nit picky.

Doesn't make it not worth it to spend $5 on one that won't most likely fail...

^^^^^^^^^ "the grass is always greener on the other side" there is always going to be that thing that is slightly more money and is better. Look at the 1660 for like another $30 get a 1660ti for like another $50 get a 2060

That analogy doesn't hold for this situation. Since it's a $5 difference to better avoid getting a defective product. Also at the time of writing this the Freezer 34 is cheaper than the Freezer 33 esports one.

edit: my bad looking at the wrong cooler. 33 is cheaper by $5. But again getting an extra fan for $5.

I didn't even know that there was a Freezer 34. I did a research on it and saw a few reviews and looks like a very good cpu cooler and I'm going to buy it, since I'm paying only 5 euro more for an extra fan and lower temperatures.

Well, the h500 comes without a tempered glass, and its 15 euro more expensive here in Greece. I love how the H500P looks but its too expensive right now. Also, none of these cases provide as good cable management as the meshify c does. Good choices tho.

Should I go with a 500gb ssd? thats 30 euro more. I could save another 30 and go for an rtx 2060.

That's a huge FPS difference. I don't think the 580 is a better value at the moment, considering that the 1660 ti is sligtly better than a 1070. As for the resolution, I will be playing on 1080p 144hz , yes. The monitor you suggested looks like a good choice. I was thinking about getting either the AOC C24G1 or the Acer Predator XB240H

cooler master, not nzxt

the mb511 rgb (if you can find it for around 65 Euros still is the better deal, because you dont have to buy fans with it, there are 4 included, tho the meshify is a great choice
