Will overclocking my cpu increase performance?

Considering gaming at 4k with 2080 ti, gpu is the bottleneck in the system. So will OC my i7-9700k cpu increase any fps at all?

You should certainly Overclock your 9700k it’s the whole point of the K series.

Some of you are literally not answering his question and some of you are flat wrong, if he is GPU bound by his settings there is no point overclocking the CPU as at best you'll limit some of the lows associated with the CPU.

 

The guy has a 2080 Ti, it's in the top 1% of the best 4K gaming experience there is.

I think some of us are fucking around cuz of that. 

 

He has arguably the best gaming GPU out there, and if it's his bottleneck like he says... he's shit out of luck.

 

Now, since he's CONSIDERING gaming at 4k, I assume he doesn't have a 2080Ti yet, and thus is guessing about a few things.

 

Personally I game at 1440p and love the hell out of it.

No part of your rig should NOT be dominating 4k gaming as is...

You will always gain performance in overclocking everything in your system, the biggest thing people overlook is their RAM which is just as important. people have tested it in the past but failed to see past raw speed and primary timings, RAM has 3 timings that when all tweeked can net you a great gain in OVERALL system performance which obviously includes gaming.
