FX9590 not Prime stable at stock clocks

I'm testing an FX9590 on an ASUS Sabertooth 990FX R2.0 and an 850W Corsair PSU, but having problems with it crashing on Prime95. So far it's ok on AIDA64 but it seems to me it should be stable on Prime95 too. The motherboard is running the most recent BIOS. Temps appear fine (60s celcius at point of crashing). Can anyone suggest what the issue might be here?

Your only issue is the CPU itself.

That's interesting. Because I have basically the exact same specs as you. Except I have the gigabyte 990fxa ud3-r5 motherboard with my fx 9590. Mine runs just fine.

 

And that motherboard is one of the main ones people mention when talking about the fx 9590 compatibility. Your 9590 must just be a bad egg with very high voltage. But that seems strange considering I'm sure AMD pick the best fx 8350 chips for their fx 9590's.

 

It'll probably be fine though, prime95 from what I heard ages back can be a little unreasonable.

 

I should mention I am running mine stock clocks at 1.4875v, if that's any help. If yours are higher (Like 1.5v) then you've probably got one of the bad eggs as I mentioned.

 

And also, regarding the 9590 because I know where this thread is heading. It's not the disaster that people claim, don't listen to them. They always ramble on about how you desperately need water cooling, yet the NH D15 I have has been running it perfectly with no hiccups for almost 2 years now. So let's put rest to that nonsense before it even begins.

Why bother with a synthetic pos app like prime95.  If Aida64 stability runs with no problems then your system is stable.  Prime does sh*T to your CPU that no real world app will ever do.  You keep running prime your abusing your CPU my friend.

I agree.

 

Couple hours of A64(w/GPU)+ASUS RealBench and then a battery of your actual used apps is all I care about.

 

P95 is excessive. And sometimes a system that is P95 stable will crash when you add in GPU load.

 

A64 (+GPU) and ASUS Realbench stresses both and will pick up system instability.
