Hello all! I currently have a relatively inexpensive set of computer speakers, but I'm looking to upgrade to a set of studio monitors. As the title suggests, I'm looking to stay below $500. I was wondering if any of you excellent and knowledgeable have any recommendations for me. Thanks in advance!

NO brainer,, get this Yamaha HS5 powered monitor  Two for 400 dollars.  Or you can get the HS7 with a 6.5 inch woofer for more bass but that is 300 dollar per monitor.

Also note pro studios do use these monitors along with other far field monitors that cost a lot.  This is near field,, so you have to be close to the monitors,, 5 or 6 feet away.
