Ok i'm confused

So after RTX was released i was fine with the naming scheme but now there are 1660TI's and new ones apparently coming very soon so can someone explain to me these new generations of graphics cards

Gamers Nexus covered the naming with a statement from nvidia

I assume they didn't want to call it a 20 series card because no RTX, but couldn't call it a 10 series because of the general improvements. So they based it on some number from the card.

The 1660 should have been called the 1165 cause it's newer than 10 and stronger than 60. lol

 

GeForce GTX MCVX or GTX MCCVX

 

Roman numerals. They should have went with MCVX instead of GTX or RTX. Imagine a card named GeForce MCVX Ti 1660SE.
