1660Ti has the best Perf/Dollar, but the way I see it the RTX 2060 is a better option for its increased performance, the 1660Ti is the same performance as a GTX 1070 but these days sometimes that's not quite enough even for 1080p but it depends on what quality settings you're comfortable dropping to and so on, but the 1660Ti is still a beast though, i'm just saying my opinion.

 

1070 and 1070Ti are obsolete at this point.

Yeah I'm not sure why someone would pick up a 1070/Ti, now that the 1660 Ti and 2060 are out. I had my 1070 Ti before they got released, but I would have picked up a 2060 if my card wasn't on sale.

I meant newer cards, sorry for not clarifying. I'm pretty sure the new cards are out of stock now, though. Considering that the 1660 Ti kinda competes with even some used prices (in the sense that its less than $100 more for a brand new card with warranty and stuff).

1070 ti goes cheap now and it is about the same power as the 2060

1070=1660ti<1070ti<2060. Given how much cards tend to cost these days, I'd skip the pascal cards and go with either 1660ti or 2060. 1660ti has slightly better price:performance but not enough to worry about if you can afford the extra $$$ to get a 2060.

BTW by sometimes he means the extreme cases like running Ghost Recon Wildlands or Metro Exodus on max settings where you'd need an RTX 2080 to get 60fps. 1070 is more than fine for basically every game at max settings except for those 2. 

 

Also IDK why he's saying 1070 and 1070ti are obscelete. If you can find a 1070 for the same price as a 1660ti, then just pick whichever design you like better or has a better cooler because they trade blows and average to be exactly as fast as one another +-2% depending on the reviewer. 1070ti is around 5% worse than 2060, so if you find a 1070ti for 10% cheaper than a 2060, go for it. It's not like graphics cards randomly become useless because new ones come out.

What do you mean "worth it". It has better price:performance than 2060. It's like 10-15% slower and costs ~20% less. If you mean RTX, then I guess if he really likes Metro and Battlefield... go for it.

2060 is better value because fps/$ isn't everything.

 

The extra cost now will extend the life of the card another year.

 

1660 ti ~= 1070, $280, 1080p/75 comfortably

 

2060 ~= 1080, $350, 1080p/120, 1440p/75 comfortably

 

$70 will give you at least another year of 1080p/60.

 

1660 ti is a bad investment if you look at big picture

In Anthem, no. But that game sucks, it's not really on the 1070.

 

GTX 1070 is going to be the minimum for guaranteed 1080p/60 in the near future, as already the previous gold standard for 1080p/60, 1060/580, isn't always giving 1080p/60 anymore in new games.

It can handle it just fine. He's referring to extreme scenarios where you'd need to buy a 2080 to do it. There are specifically and exclusively 2 games I can think of that need more than a 1660ti for 1080p 60fps at ultra: Metro Exodus and Ghost Recon. 2060 isn't doing 1080p 60fps ultra anyways, and as soon as you turn the settings down to high in those games you're fine with a 1660ti again.

Yeah that's not really how it works though. In actual games it tends to be around 30-40% more demanding. 

 

Edit: Closer to the 40% end of things. That's assuming you have enough VRAM. If you don't performance tanks.

In modern demanding titles, the 1070 can't give reliable 1440p/60 results. The 2060 in the same scenarios can. Therefore, the 1070 is "reliably" a 1080p card.

 

I.e. SOTTR, AC, JC4, etc. It only gets worse from this point forward, not better.
