  1. 1. Which PSU (please read before voting :) )

    • Cooler master
      2
    • Raidmax

Hello my LTTF friends. My friend is building up a new pc and we are struggling to decide which power supply to use. We have narrowed it down to 2 power supplies but cant decide so we would like your input.

Power supplies in question are:

Cooler master MasterWatt Lite 600W. Here is the link for more details https://www.amazon.com/MasterWatt-Lite-600W-Power-Supply/dp/B06ZXQM46P

Raidmax rx-700AE 700W. Here is the link to that too https://www.neweggbusiness.com/product/product.aspx?item=9b-17-152-070

We have chosen this 2 power supplies due to their availability in our country (ordering from a local shops, this links are just to give you an idea and specs in english language)

And if you are wondering what specs of the pc would be:

Ryzen 5 1600x
Gigabyte AM4 B450M GAMING
Rx 580 saphire
2x Kingston Fury Black 2400hz 8gb (yes i know ryzen loves higher clocks but we just could not find a decent higher clock ram)

I personally am for raidmax, seems to have higher 80 rating, more w and personally i am using raidmax cobra 700w and had no issues with it at all. And its extremely quiet and stable (my pc is overclocked).

Have had several Raidmax PSU's explode killing the whole system.

The cheap Cooler Master units I have never had that problem with.

I'd go for a Corsair CX or CXM as a power supply. You will not regret it when your system doesn't catch on fucking fire or explode with the Raidmax and probably cause a fuckton of instability (as in, can literally kill Haswell CPUs) with the CoolerMaster.

eh kind of exaggerated but yeah

Ryzen 7 3700X / 16GB RAM / Optane SSD / GTX 1650 / Solus Linux

Cheaper cooler master blew with a bang on me once; no other parts harmed though.

Look for "psu tier" list; sticky topic in this forum. Find the best that fits your budget avoiding the bottom tiers.

That raidmax seems like  looking for trouble if you ask me...

If you could search or acquire any other brands like Corsair or Seasonic, get them. They are absolutely worth it. But if alas you're totally limited, go for Cooler master. They wont fail on you and just dont get too freaky with the overclocks. :)

raidmax: ARE YOU TRYING TO FREAK ME OUT?

cooler master: not as bad, but more a prebuilt replacement psu than this build

where are you located (as in country) and what would your budget be?

You have such a nice system, why do you want to ruin it with a garbage PSU?!

Why not get a good, 400-550W PSU??

Those are the best, obviously I'd choose the SAMA...

From the choices there, id go with that one as well, definatly.

That unit is bit more, but much safer and stable. Remeber, a psu fault can kill you, set house on fire or fry other components. Dont take that risk.

The SAMA is slightly less quality, but they're still good PSUs

CX550/CX550M seems best value in that price range.

Doesn't matter (much) as the Options are limited and the choices are pretty shitty anyway. Throwing more money at it doesn't really help.

The next really good PSU would be this:

http://www.itsvet.com/napajanje_fsp_hydro_g_series_hge650-pdaa1-57.i?id=1378

The rest is no better than what I've already linked.
