Youtube comparison vidoes

Go to solution Solved by vanished,

My only concern with them is that someone who doesn't understand bottlenecks and the fact performance is the result of a combination of hardware and not just one component will see it and get the wrong idea, but so long as that is explained I don't have any issue with it.  In fact, I quite like them because it's unique.  It is unlikely that any product reviewer will test such an odd combination, so if you were curious for one reason or another about how that specific setup would work, what a perfect thing to find!

i hate those videos that pop up every time a new gpu comes out and its a ridiculous set up,

for example the recent 2080 launch a video popped up on youtube with a 2080 running on a Pentium and a 1030 running on a 9700k or something out outrageous,

am i the only one that hates seeing these, like i mean i understand specific videos for specific set up, but these just like "how will gta v run"

i hate to quote it but its here if you want to see what i mean

It's clearly just exaggerating a GPU vs CPU bottleneck scenario for demonstrative purposes.

If you don't like that sort of video, don't watch it?

People who are looking at buying a new graphics card / cpu with lower end hardware, before upgrading. Systems like this exist more than you'd think, more than likely OEM.

I'd probably at some point link to that video in a thread on the forums of someone asking "Should I spend $500 on a really good CPU and use integrated graphics or should I spend $150 on a CPU and $350 on a graphics card?"... Which probably will come up at some stage.

I'm not sure if it's from the same creator, but there are other similar videos that look at the difference of stuff like 2400MHz RAM vs 3000MHz RAM, or the difference of the Ryzen 2600 vs Ryzen 2700 in games. They're actually pretty handy having the side by side comparison showing what is happening in both systems simultaneously.

If you can read this you're using the wrong theme.  You can change it at the bottom.

yep, that is my main concern as well

but i mean the gpu bottlenecked ones seem to be useful of the two, like a workstation with light gaming
