Your best option would be used market X58 parts.

Get a board from Asrock, Asus, or Gigabyte and a Xeon X5650.

Out of curiosity...how come you're wanting Xeon? I don't know what the surplus market is like around your location but check around for Dell or HP workstations with X,E,or L 5600 series Xeon CPU, that might be your best option. If you can find one with an old quadro card even better since you know you would get the aux power to put a GPU in.

There's no place like ~

Just about anything midrange or higher from the brands I specified.

Yes. Most of them overclock pretty nicely as well, provided you have a good enough motherboard and PSU.

@WhisperingKnickers and @Zando Bob will be able to tell you much more about the overclocking potential, reality, and results of those Xeons(I've not personally had the privilege of overclocking on X58).

@Ground is pretty damn experienced as well IIRC. I personally have my X5670 at 4.2Ghz/1.306v with 2000MHz/CL11 DDR3, running it with a 1080 Ti and it's awesome. Most X58 Xeons will do 4.2Ghz fine, though with something like an X5650 you'll need to up the BLCK more since the multiplier is locked. If you can afford it, try for an X5675, they're usually the best value and best bin for overclocking (X5690s are good as well but overpriced). They're around $30 USD, or if you take a teeny step down to an X5670 like I did, those can be had for $12-14 IIRC.

If you wanna learn more, either check out the link in my sig or Tech Yes City's youtube channel, he does lots of stuff on X58 and X79 chipsets and overclocking, has a great guide to get a quick 4.2GHz OC going on pretty much any X58 Xeon.

That's definitely what's best, although the motherboard selection isn't as good from AliExpress

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad
