Most compatible ram for Gigabyte B450 Aorus Pro Wifi and R5 2600

Hi guys,

Any ram recommendations for r5 2600 non-x cpu; paired with the gigabyte B450 Aorus pro wifi motherboard?

Is this one good? It's the most popular one on amazon: https://www.amazon.com/Corsair-Vengeance-3200MHz-Desktop-Memory/dp/B0143UM4TC/ref=sr_1_1?keywords=16gb+3200+ddr4&qid=1551163627&s=specialty-aps&sr=1-1#customerReviews

I originally wanted the Tridentz RGB 3200 2x8gb ram but sadly it doesn't ship to where I am...

Thanks in advance!

Any kit form a reputable brand will be just fine, Ryzen RAM incompatibility is a thing of the past. You will be fine with that Corsair Vengeance kit.

I usually don't recommend Corsair RAM for Ryzen CPU-s but it should work just fine. I'm using Kingston HyperX Fury DDR4 3200 CL18 RAM and it works fine on a motherboard that features the same memory support as that B450 Aorus pro wifi.

Really? But is it still better to have ram with at least 3000 speeds or faster?

This will be my first pc build so I want to have as much feedback to make the best decision possible.

Also what do you guys think about the possibility of ram prices falling. Should I wait a bit more before building the PC?

Yeah, I mean RAM like that, mine is black (the same RAM, just a black heat spreader).

For Ryzen, you'd want RAM faster than 2666, 3200-3466 would be the best choice (ryzen usually can+t go above 3466 for the RAM).

The RAM prices will fall for a bit, but that shouldn't prevent you from buying a PC now.

Alright, at least 3200 speeds for the ram.

Another thing making me hesitate is the 3rd gen ryzen cpus... but then again I'll probably use this pc for 3+ years and by then there'll be far better pc components to pick from for an upgrade

AMD promised to support AM4 for a year or two longer. If you choose a decent enough board at this time, you'll have decent upgrade options in a year or two.

Imagine having a Ryzen 5 1600 now and upgrading to a 12 core Ryzen 3000 series CPU in a year or two. That's possible.

mhm, I'll just go with my initial choice of cpu and motherboard. I plan to use this pc for at least 3 years, and really hoping that prices go down a lot more in the next 3-4 years time.

Ryzen has marginal improvements from fast dual channel RAM, honestly, it wouldn't really be a noticeable difference outside of benchmarks. Just get the chepaer of a 3000MHz or 3200MHz kit.

Agree to disagree, I exclusively use Corsair RAM on my Ryzen system(s) and it has been 100% fine. My RAM is not officially listed on my motherboards QVL list but like I said previously with new Bios updates RAM incompatibilities are no longer an issue. Whereas in the early days of Ryzens launch I could not clock my RAM past 2400MHz. Now I run at my rated 3000MHz. Also, that being said spending the extra money on RAM past 3200MHz usually gets exponentially more expensive, thus we reach the point of diminishing returns. So the money spent is not worth the negligible performance increase. Money would be better spent elsewhere in a system.

Ryzen has marginal improvements from fast dual channel RAM, honestly, it wouldn't really be a noticeable difference outside of benchmarks. Just get the chepaer of a 3000MHz or 3200MHz kit.

Thanks. I'll probably get the corsair vengeance LPX as it is the cheaper one. Another question, if the ram is rated at 3200 that means it cannot go over that speed correct?

And ram usually doesn't run at those speeds out of the box right?

Yes get the Corsair kit, you will not have any issues. You can overclock RAM, although for first timers it is usually "more difficult" than just standard CPU overclocking, the option is there though. That being said your mileage may vary, sometimes you can't overlcok your RAM at all as the system will crash other times you can do so easily, luck of the draw usually.

And yes, you are correct by default your RAM will run at 2133MHz, you will need to set it to its max rated speed of 3200MHz in the Bios settings, there are great YouTube tutorial videos on how to do so. Just watch one specifically for a Ryzen system.
