So basically my friend is selling me his i5-6500 processor. I really want to get a RTX 2060 and I really want to know if the pc will bottleneck...

PS: I’m on a budget and my friend is selling me his CPU, motherboard, power supply and his case for 300CND. I want to spend the at most 1000CND.

you determine a bottleneck through usage figures in whatever you're doing

not asking random people on a forum if it can ever bottleneck in any random task we come up with.

will it bottleneck while cpu rendering a video? yes.

will it bottleneck trying to run doom at 16k? yes.

You're not providing enough information to provide a detailed and accurate answer to your question. PC questions should almost always be nice and detailed, because it's technical topic that usually requires a somewhat long answer (except yes/no and extremely simple questions).

What resolution are you wanting to play? What games do you want to play? Are you doing any other tasks?

Games is important because lots of games can be more dependent on the CPU, or more dependent on the GPU. CSGO is a game that is very dependent on CPU power (despite it not needing much CPU power) and the Tomb Raider games are more dependent on the GPU's power.

See that’s the thing I usually play on different res for each game. For example I play on stretched resolution in fortnite 1154 by 10:80 and I usually try to play native res in games like Sea of theives or overwatch. I will also play CSGO on stretched resolution, I’m currently playing on a laptop running trough my 144hz curved monitor and I usually play at 1154 by 1080. However for games like Apex legends I play at 1920 by 1080.

I will also be using my laptop for homework, or streaming games.

I run a 1070ti (similar performance as a 2060) with a i7-3770 (similar performance as a i5-6550) and I haven't had any problems running any games with high quality settings at 1080p resolutions.

You'll be fine with that setup.

In most modern games the i5-6500 and a 2060 is an excellent pairing.

Here we go again, as usual people unable to answer an easy question. I assume you're on about gaming. (Because you are).

You might lose a tiny bit of fps here and there in the most demanding games. But it's nothing major and it's nothing to worry about. You'll still be over 60 fps in every game pretty much.

Everyone can act like they don't know what he's talking about, but they know darn well what he's talking about. Does he look like the kind who's spending his time rendering or playing at 8k? I didn't think so either. People always over complicate things on this forum.

Look here bucko, (/s)

I asked for more information because it really does depend on what games you're playing. Some people have a very wide range of games and tasks they're doing, and some don't. Different people come asking different questions with different criteria, all the time. I do understand where you're coming from, but come on...

How are we supposed to magically judge what he's (she's?) playing/doing?
