I get that I need to have the MP3 files open in VLC. I'm at that stage. Now what.

and do it > like this > Please. It shows it much more clearly as to what I need to do.

I'm using localized VLC, so if anything isn't excatly same, thats why. All files open, then File > Save Playlist to File (Ctrl+Y) > <filename>.xspf (the default). That file should show as VLC file, having VLC logo. If not, then you need to set its default program to VLC. Then you can just open that file by double-clicking on desktop.

Other formats should also work. I don't use VLC for music, I have that library on Foobar, so I can't give any further help confifuring that.

Ok so I can't seem to find sh*t about this online like at all. I imagine there is software out there for what Im asking, there has to be right? So let me explain a bit better.

So what I want to be done is to open the files explorer > then open up a folder > finally run the contents of the folder in VLC.

The reason why is I have a couple thousand songs I've bought over the years and I want to have them played in the VLC player with a single shortcut icon on the Desktop. When ever I search for such a thing it just doesn't come out right, so maybe you guys could help me sort out how to do it. Or find someone that has already.

Thanks :D

You expect me to reply then you'd best QUOTE me so I can........thanks

If VLC player doesn't let you create a playlist shortcut it's possible you could do this with a batch (.bat) file. It'd basically navigate to the directory and could add each item to VLC & VLC should just start playing them.

There are definitely smarter ways to go about it but that's an idea anyways.

Could you show me how to do this? The closest I got to anything was opening up the folder with Music in it while I am in VLC but that doesn't fix it. Your fix seems a lot better u mind showing me?

Better yet you think there might be another way to do this at all? Cause as I said I wanna basically have this string of macros as a clickable desktop shortcut icon.

That would be ideal, if possible of course.......

Actually, opening a whole folder in vlc is quite easy.

First just make a VLC shortcut on your desktop, open up the properties for it.

And just append your path to the Target text box. (If it has spaces surround it with quotes "")

Just tried it and it doesn't work. Spits out an error ("Your input can't be reached" Unable to open the MRL file and) opens into one file branch before the folder with my songs in it. Meaning its one file branch away from where it should be.

I checked to make sure its going to the folder with the MP3 files all thrown in ONE FOLDER. And still nothing. Any suggestions??

I've even tried to lessen the folder jumping VLC would need to do by having it only jump through 2 folders rather then the 4 I had before and still nothing. :////

Open all files you want to be played in VLC Playlist manager. You can add whole main folder, and subfolders will remain as such in there. Then you can save that whole playlist as single file. If you are using VLCs own filetype, then opening that playlist file will start to play it on VLC. If you don't want to keep folder structure in playlist, you need to add all folder one-by-one to add all files to root folder.

I don't use VLC for music, I have that library on Foobar, so I can't give any further help confifuring that.

do I set the save type as what type??

XSFS

M3U

M3U8

etc etc.

Or does it matter?

edit: I just did XSFS the default it selected and it WORKED THANK YOU MAN.

I thought I would never find a simple solution like this. I saw the framework as to how it could work I just couldn't figure it out Was afraid I'd have to use some trash free software to do it. Pheww. Thank you man.

Still curious tho does either of the save types there is matter? For instance better quality, smaller size,  shit like that?

M3U and M38U are supported by more players. Like you can save playlist on VLC, and then open same file on iTunes or Android. There might just be a need to manually edit relative filepath. So that when playlist is opened, it defaults to folder playlist file is located.
