So, I have a pair of San disk ultras (32 GB) micro SD cards and when I plug them into my computer, it automatically tells me that they are corrupted and need to be formatted. OK, no big deal. But when I go and format them, My computer and phone says "error has occurred and can not format device". Is there any simple way to get around this issue or do i need to get new micro sd cards. (note I am NOT using an adapter so there is no white lock on them nor do they have the lock switch on them)

Check in Windows Disk Management to see if you can delete the partitions and recreate.

Linux has tools that brute force that a little bit more. (Gparted from a Ubuntu/Debian/etc Live USB stick)

If nothing else works, the card might be dead.

I usually use Diskpart in CMD and run the clean command over them. If that doesn't work they may not be recoverable.

Alright. Im just gonna call these cards dead. I'm just gonna go and buy some new ones.

But thank you guys (or gals) for helping. They are old cards anyways so who knows what is on them.
