New Intel Cpu won't boot

Hollow021

So I bought my buddy's rig from him and wanted to replace the i7 in his pc with my i5 but neither one of the computers would boot now? I tried resetting cmos but nothing changed. My desktop does nothing when I press the power button but all the lights inside are on and the lights on the motherboard are on without blinking. The other pc turns on for 1 sec and shuts off. I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong...

They use different chipsets, you cannot just replace one with another.

Main system: Ryzen 7 7800X3D / Asus ROG Strix B650E / G.Skill Trident Z5 NEO 32GB 6000Mhz / Powercolor RX 7900 XTX Red Devil/ EVGA 750W GQ / NZXT H5 Flow

It's very confusing. The chip can fit in the socket, but the socket and chipset are different.

I have heard of people managing to run coffee lake in older boards, but that's beyond unverified, risky, unlikely and not recommended at all.

I once gave Luke and Linus pizza.
